When you were making custom cabinets, you must have heard of the term 'see through panel'. The salesperson tells you, 'This will cost extra.' You look confused and don't know what it is, but you feel embarrassed to ask, afraid of appearing ignorant.

Explain this matter clearly today.

The visible panel is the one exposed on the side of the cabinet.

For example, you made a wardrobe that looks very nice with two doors when viewed from the front. But what about the side? The side is the cross-section of the cabinet panel, where you can see the structure layer by layer, and the color is completely different from the front, which is very ugly. The visible light panel is a decorative panel attached to this side, making the cabinet look the same color and texture from any angle.

Is this thing worth adding?

It's worth it. Because it directly affects the overall appearance of the cabinet. A cabinet without a visible light panel, even if it looks good on the front, it is cheap when viewed from the side. Especially for furniture with exposed sides such as open cabinets, island platforms, and sideboards, a visible light panel is almost necessary.

But the problem is that many businesses see the light panel as a profit tool. The cost of using the same board on the front and side is actually similar, but the quotation can be doubled. Some merchants intentionally do not include the visible light panel in their quotation, and only tell you "this needs to be added" after you sign the contract. At this point, you are already in a difficult situation.

How to avoid pitfalls?

Before placing an order, ask the salesperson to include the "visible panel" in the quotation, specifying the unit price and quantity. If it's not included in the quotation, take the initiative to ask for clarification. In addition, some brands may use the same color edge banding to replace the visible light panel, which has a similar effect but much lower cost. If your budget is limited, you can accept the edge banding scheme, but be sure to confirm in advance so that you don't discover any differences during installation.

Remember: the light panel is not high-tech, it's just a side panel. But it is the most easily overcharged and overlooked item in customized cabinets. Asking in advance is much more useful than tearing things apart afterwards.
